Hope House Garden Party

To honor those who we have lost in the struggle here at Hope House and throughout Minnesota, the Board and Staff are humbled to announce the creation of an AIDS Memorial Garden. Through the generosity of an anonymous donor, the garden will be installed on the west edge of the property, close to the walking paths just off Cherry Street on the north hill in Stillwater.

Hope House prides itself in taking care of our people. That means everyone; our residents, our staff, our board, and our supporters…all those who gather around our important mission. As such, we need to be leaders in the face of uncertainty. We have researched different variables regarding our upcoming event this Monday, August 2, and with both the poor outside air quality and those associated with the COVID-Delta Variant risks, Bill, Erin and I have decided to reschedule our event. While we know many will be disappointed (as are we) and some may feel we are being overly cautious, we believe that we must listen to the advice of experts. That advice is clear – that avoiding outdoor gatherings is the best way for Hope House to respond to these unprecedented air quality issues and accompanying COVID-19 risks. In the next few days, we will announce a new date and other details to our donors.

I understand that you may have questions regarding this decision, please feel to reach out to myself or Bill to further discuss our decision.

Best,

This year, we are proud to present the Hope House Garden Party in lieu of the Scott Zahren Memorial Cruise, which we will not be hosting due to concerns related to COVID-19. The Garden Party is a scaled-down event compared to the Memorial Cruise, but will have great live entertainment courtesy of local fiddler Alissa Ona Jacobsen, as well as tasty treats including wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages. During the event, you will learn more about how we are doing here at Hope House, in addition to seeing the dedication of the AIDS Memorial Garden – a project we have been working on for the past several years.

Tickets are $40 and are limited so please order early!

The AIDS Memorial Garden will serve in remembrance for those who we have lost in our community. If you would like more information or would like to support the installation and ongoing maintenance of the garden, please contact Erin McQuay.
