Advocacy
Partnership
We believe that advocacy is an integral part of supporting and serving people living with HIV/AIDS. We are small, but mighty when working in collaboration with our partners on the Federal, State and Local level to protect the basic rights of all people living with HIV.
Policy Priorities
Each year our advocacy strategy changes depending on the political climate in DC and in St. Paul. In 2017, Hope House worked closely with our State and local partners to pass legislation to create the first ever Statewide Plan to End HIV in Minnesota. In addition, to the plan, Hope House also works on the Federal level to ensure that the health care and human rights of all people living with HIV are protected.
The agency accomplishes its advocacy efforts through letter writing, meetings with legislators and working closely with local and national coalitions to send our voice to DC and St. Paul. If you would like to learn more about our policy efforts, please contact us!
Current Policy Priorities Include:
- Affordable Care Act (ACA)
- Budget and Appropriations
- Comprehensive Sexuality Education
- HIV Criminalization
- Housing and HOPWA
- Medicaid Expansion
- Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP)
- Ryan White Program
- Syringe Access
- Opiod Crisis and Response
- Minnesota Strategy to End HIV
- Home Based and Community Services and 245D
