Current position and start date:
I stepped into the newly created position of Development and Events Manager and began in late March 2019.
Tell us about your background (education/last job and position).
I have a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Therapeutic Recreation and Theatre. My passion has always been in non-profit organizations and I just left Lift Bridge Brewery as head of Marketing and Events for 5 years. Even though I worked at a local for-profit company, I tied each event to a local non-profit organization for its benefit and that of the community.
What inspired you to apply to work at Hope House?
I was first introduced to Hope House years ago and volunteered with events. It was a home in Stillwater that was housing my own neighbors in my community, and once I saw the creation of this new position I knew I would be a fool to not apply. But in true mom-style, I brought my 1 year old to the interview. She may have sealed the deal.
In what ways do you foresee your new role making significant contributions to Hope House?
I’m very excited about the new strategic plan Hope House is going through, and with any growth in an organization, there is an increased need for funding, promotions and exposure. That’s where my position comes in, and I’m thrilled to be working alongside the Executive Director on this endeavor.
What is interesting about you that you would like others to know? (Do you have animals/children/married/spouses’ name/ hobbies/ educational aspirations/ favorite food)?
I live in Stillwater with my husband David and three children (Loyal-5, Chester-4, and Estelle-2) and our red lab, Duke. Becoming a mom was something I didn’t anticipate, and the thing I’m by far the most proud of in my life. I love all things community, green and family. Traditions are huge and I try to make even the little and simple things a big deal. I love singing and classical music and hush everyone around me if I think I hear a loon call.
